A permit is required
The official Lakshadweep ePermit portal states that people who are not native to the islands generally need a permit from the competent authority to enter and reside in Lakshadweep, subject to stated exemptions. Travellers should use the Tourist Category for vacation or tourism applications.
Current tourist-category portal notes
As checked on 19 August 2026, the official portal says sponsorship is no longer required for Tourist Category applications and a Police Clearance Certificate is no longer required to be uploaded for that category. Portal instructions can change, so confirm the live requirements before submitting.
Apply and track through the official portal
The government portal provides account registration, online application submission, application tracking and permit delivery by email. Use the official portal as the authority for the active form, document fields, payment steps and status.
What Al Safar can—and cannot—do
Al Safar can explain the current process, help identify preparation gaps and provide application assistance where applicable. The relevant government authority decides eligibility and issues or rejects permits. No agency should promise guaranteed approval.
Before you travel
Recheck the permit status, the names and details on the issued document, the islands and dates covered, and any instructions supplied with it. Keep accessible copies for the journey and follow the current requirements communicated by the authority and confirmed transport provider.
